OSCommerce Images

Many OSC stores aren't set up to display images very well. Each product has one image and they are squashed when they need to show a smaller image and stretched and fuzzy when they want to display an enlarged image.

Is it obvious that the image on the right is more likely to sell the product than the one on the left?

We were regularly using Photoshop to set up new product images when updating a client OSC site to the latest LoadedCommerce version, but even then it's very time consuming so we've written code that does a great job creating product images and automatically updating the database to use them. While were were at it, we used the opportunity to make the image filename more SEO friendly. (If a page is about Lorem Ipsum, then having and image entitled lorem-ipsum.jpg is more likely to be higher ranked than one with an image filename of x1235.jpg).

Just place a large image in a special images folder and the code finds the image, works out which product from the database it refers to and resizes it into small, medium and large images. Then they can be displayed better like this:

We also instruct on the very small changes needed to use these better images on the product_info (details) page and the enlarged product image too.

Click Buy Now to purchase the addon to install onto your site. It's very easy to install and configure and was written with instructions for OSC MS2.2 RC2, OSC 231 and CRELoaded (6.4.1CE).
